The New Mercy Children and Youth Ministry includes all school aged children. We work to foster an environment for students to grow and thrive in their faith.
The vision of the New Mercy Baptist Church Youth Ministry is to be a safe, fun, and welcoming environment for youth to experience the love of God, grow in the knowledge of Jesus Christ, and be empowered by the Holy Spirit to positively impact their generation.
To guide youth to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and equip them to read, understand, live, and share the Word of God in their daily lives. Our mission is 5-fold: Glorify the Lord (worship), Gather in His name (fellowship), Grow in faith (discipleship), Give of ourselves (ministry), and Gain friends for Christ (evangelism).
Below are ways students can currently be involved in the NMBC Children and Youth Ministry. In addition to these, we have various activities and events throughout the year to keep students connected to faith, fun, and fellowship. If you would like to help in any of these activities or have ideas for new ones, feel free to reach out to our Youth Pastor, Reverend Carmen Caldwell
Sunday School, 9:45 a.m. – 10:45 a.m.
Sunday School classes are aimed to fulfill our discipleship component of our mission. Classes will be divided by age and youth will be able to connect with other students their age as they grow in understanding of their faith.
Sunday Morning Worship Services, 11:00 a.m.
The Sunday Morning Worship service is aimed to fulfill our worship, fellowship, and discipleship components of our mission. Students worship alongside adults. They also serve in ministry with adults of the congregation. We seek these opportunities to give youth other positive adult relationships which are so vital to young people’s development.
On 2nd and 4th Sundays, we have children’s church during regular worship service. This is open to all elementary aged students.
Tuesday Night Bible Study, 7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Tuesday Night Bible Study is aimed to fulfill our fellowship and discipleship components of our mission. The Bible Study sessions are aimed at teaching topical lessons that students can apply to their lives. It is also a time for fun and games.
“Outta Me” Activities
Outta Me activities are aimed to fulfill the ministry and evangelism components of our mission. These are service-oriented activities where students provide a service that benefits someone other than themselves; students get “outta me” mode and help others. These are relatively small, but impactful activities, are aimed at helping the community, locally and globally. We show the love of Christ by helping others. And we share the Gospel of Jesus to those that do not have a relationship with Jesus as Lord and Savior.
This is an annual week-long, city-wide, Vacation Bible School. This program is aimed to fulfill the evangelism component of our mission. Kid’s Explosion is a separate ministry of several local churches and ministries that New Mercy supports.
This is typically held on Halloween night to provide a safe and Godly environment for children to have fun and enjoy themselves. It is a major yearly event hosted for the community. We have games, food, music, etc. We also have a time of testimony and sharing of faith. It is a fun night!
Youth Praise Team
The youth praise team fulfills the worship component of our mission. Youth work closely with the Worship Pastor to develop their voices and posture to lead praise and worship.
S.W.A.G. (Students Who Adore God) Praise Dancers
This is a ministry that involves dance, mime, and step. Youth design routines to worship, praise and dance songs that inspire and encourage others in their faith.
This ministry reaches out to middle and high school students interested in playing basketball. We are a part of a church league for youth. We offer girls and boys basketball as well as cheer-leading.
